In late February 2020, Mick Flannery and Susan O’Neill took to the stage of The Late Late Show in Ireland for a striking performance of their standout song, "Baby Talk," released the following week. What began as a one-off collaboration quickly sparked a creative connection between the two artists, one that would evolve into something much greater. Soon after, Mick and Susan began writing and recording together, ultimately crafting a full album of original material. The result was In the Game, released in September 2021 to widespread acclaim. The record debuted at No. 1 on the Irish Independent Albums Chart, remained in or near the Top 20 for several weeks, and went on to become the biggest-selling album in Ireland by a non-major label that year. They took In the Game on the road throughout 2022, touring extensively across Europe and North America. Their live shows captivated audiences, with the album’s songs forming the backbone of a moving, timeless narrative about musicianship, love, struggle, and life on and off the stage. Over time, In the Game has become a cherished album, continuing to resonate with listeners both in Ireland and abroad. Now, five years on from that first performance, a live record was captured across a series of shows from 2021 to 2025 will be released this October, accompanied by a nationwide Irish tour and select UK dates
Susan has spent the last few years honing her craft as a solo performer. A songwriter of hidden depths, with a timeless voice that is equal parts balm and blowtorch, she is audacity personified, a free spirit, a real performer.
Since the release of the critically acclaimed collaboration album with Mick Flannery ‘In The Game’, Susan has toured extensively across Europe and North America, performing both with Mick and solo on headline tours, festival stages, and as an invited guest to an array of artists including Phoebe Bridgers, Valerie June and The Teskey Brothers.
Her latest offering, ‘Drive’ marks Susan’s first new music - which is accompanied by a self-directed video - since her ‘Now You See It’ EP which scooped the ‘Best Original Folk Song’ award for its namesake track at the RTE 1 Folk awards in 2023.
